Gilman Dumond

Gilman Dumond, 84, of Plainville died peacefully
on Thursday, April 27, 2017 surrounded by his family.

Born on June 1, 1932 in St. David, Maine,
he was the son of the late Alsime and Leda (Lagasse) Dumond.

On July 19, 1954 he married Rita Cote who
predeceased him on June 20, 2001.

Gilman and his wife, Rita, moved to Hartford, CT in 1957
and subsequently made their home in Plainville in 1965.

He proudly worked for Tilcon/Tomasso for 37 years as
a paving foreman. He was very well liked and
respected by all who worked with him.

Gil very much enjoyed working on his home,
yard and garden over the years.

He and Rita enjoyed entertaining and had
many parties at their home.

He loved to dance and have a good time.

He especially loved spending the summers with his grandchildren
at their camp in Cross Lake, Maine.

Nothing was more important to him than his family.

He was a wonderful man, husband, father, pepere, brother, and friend.

He never said no to anyone and was
always willing to lend a helping hand.

He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his children, Michael Dumond, of Harwinton,
Daniel Dumond and his wife, Shawn Marie, of Bristol,
Donna Parr and her husband, Phil, of Canton;
his beloved grandchildren Lee, Brian, Keith, Kyle,
Cortlin, Kevin, Jessie, Sarah, David; and his
great grandson, Kellan Parr.

He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Cheryl Dumond.

He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his brothers, Norman, Roland, Reno,
Gilbert (Zune), and his sister, Nancy Berube.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Lawrence, Emileo, Gerald,
and his sisters, Edwina Dufour, Lena (Tipi) Hebert,
and Alphena Chasse.

in the past months, especially to the staff at
The Landing of Farmington and Seasons Hospice.

We also want to extend a special thank you to Matante Nancy
for all her help in caring for Dad over the past 16 years.

Funeral Services in Celebration of Gilman's life will begin
on Saturday, May 6 at 9 AM from
Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville

for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at
Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St., Plainville.

Burial will follow in
Saint Mary Cemetery, New Britain.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 5 from 4 to 7 PM.
