Stanley "Stan the Man" J. Piotrowski, 93, of Farmington,
formerly of Plainville, died peacefully Sept. 13, 2011.

He was the devoted husband of Marion (Rubino) Piotrowski and
together they shared 69 years of marriage.

He was born in Manchester, N.H., on Nov. 16, 1917, the son of the late Frank and Anna (Opapaka) Piotrowski.

He graduated from Manchester Central High in New Hampshire where he was
an outstanding football player earning the nickname "Old 68."

After high school, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and after that went on to be a
part of the New Hampshire Army National Guard.

He moved to Boston after his honorable discharge from the service and worked
as a bartender where he met the love of his life, Marion.

They married in 1942 and then moved to central Connecticut to work in the factories as a part of the war effort.

Settling in Plainville in 1947, they started a family and he was active in the
Linden Street School Parent Teacher Organization.

He was a strong advocate of education and he was so proud that his two sons
and four grandchildren all graduated from college.

During this time, he was a hardworking and dedicated employee for 40 years for Marlin Rockwell Corp.
and active in the UAW Union. He also believed in community service and was a member of
the Plainville Democratic Town Committee, Our Lady of Mercy Church
and the Knights of Columbus.

In the evenings, he loved to work as a bartender at Peterson's Inn/Inn Chablis
where he got his nickname "Stan the Man" as he loved to socialize with all who came in
and they loved to hang out with him. After retirement, he enjoyed getting away
and spending his winters in Florida. He relocated with Marion to Farmington in 1982
and continued to travel, enjoy and celebrate life.

He loved his family and friends and he will be truly missed by all those who knew him.

Besides his loving wife, he leaves his son, Richard Piotrowski and his wife, Claudia, of Plainville,
and a son, Stephen, of Farmington; his grandchildren, Richard Jr. and his fiancee, Tara, of New Britain,
Courtney, of New York City, Gary, of Plainville, and Jenna, of Boca Raton, Fla.;
along with several nieces and nephews from New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Julia, Theodore, Joseph and Matthew.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to The Summit of Plantsville for the
last six years of outstanding care and to the third floor staff
at Bradley Memorial Hospital for their compassion for Stanley.

A celebration of his life was held Sept. 19, 2011, at Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville.

Burial will be held privately at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to The Summit at
Plantsville, 261 Summit St., Plantsville, CT 06479.
