Never Forgotten
Helen (Broczkowski) Bergenty, a remarkable woman known for her selflessness and
volunteerism,
bid farewell to the world on January 29, 2024, at the age of 94.
She was the wife of the late William Sisto Bergenty for 68 years, who she now
joins in eternal peace.
Born and raised in Plainville, Helen was a proud member of her tight-knit
community.
She graduated from Plainville High School in 1947 and made her mark on the
basketball court as a valuable player for the championship-winning Blue Angels,
inducted into the prestigious Plainville Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.
Up graduation, she landed her first job at Allied Control in Plantsville as foot
press operator from 1947-1949.
Following her passion for real estate, Helen established her own agency,
Starline Agency,
where she excelled as a Real Estate Broker and Insurance Agent from 1954 to
1974.
A Justice of the Peace for 21 years,
Helen's dedication to public service was evident in her lengthy
involvement with
the Republican Town Committee and her active participation in town and state
politics for more than 60 years.
She proudly served Plainville for seven terms on the Town Council,
working tirelessly to make a positive impact on the lives of her fellow
residents,
and was the first woman candidate for Office of the High Sheriff of Hartford
County in 1990.
A strong-willed and forward-thinking woman, who lived a life dedicated to the
betterment of her hometown,
she was a member and Past President of the Junior Women's Club and AARP Chapter
4146 and
a member of the Women's Club of Plainville.
Helen was instrumental in the establishment of the Plainville Community Fund,
a testament to her commitment to helping others.
She was also the driving force behind the revitalization of the local newspaper,
Plainville Hometown Connection, where she could often be spotted with a camera
around her neck,
capturing the essence of her beloved community at countless events.
Helen devoted much of her time and energy to Our Lady of Mercy Church,
where she was a lifelong member and served as an active volunteer in various
capacities.
Being known for her generosity in her giving back to the community
for which continued with her undying support for the Plainville Knights of
Columbus.
through the decades, her support for local organizations aided the Knights of
Columbus to give back to our community.
Known for her infectious energy, her unwavering loyalty, and unmistakable laugh,
her passion and enthusiasm were boundless, leaving a lasting impact.
She leaves behind her son, William F. Bergenty, II, and his wife Carla; and her
grandchildren
and great-grandchildren that brought her endless joy, William C. Bergenty, his
wife Kristin and their children,
Charles "Zeke", Reagan and Avery; and Adam R. Bergenty, his wife Courtney and
their sons, Sisto "Sonny" and Nico.
She also leaves her sister and best friend, Patricia Lostocco; her
brother-in-law, John Bergenty and his wife Audrey;
her sister-in-law Joyce Hayes; and she was an adored Auntie Helen to many nieces
and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Brow and her sister, Anne Robideau.

Family and friends may gather in celebration of Helen's life on
Friday from 5:00
8:00 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home,
81 Broad St, Plainville, CT.
Funeral services
will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from Plainville Funeral Home,
with a Mass of
Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church.
Committal will follow
at St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville, CT.
