Lawrence D. Belanger
October 18th,  2022

Lawrence D. Belanger, of Plainville, CT, passed away peacefully
on Tuesday October 18, 2022 at 85 years of age surrounded by his family,
following a brief illness. The beloved husband of Velma (Martin) Belanger,
together they shared 63 years of marriage, love, and laughter.

Known to those dear to him as either Larry or Pete, he was the third born of
eight children to the late Gerald and Irene (Michaud) Belanger,
and was the first among them to leave this earthly life.
Raised in Van Buren and Caribou, Maine, he enlisted in the US Army
shortly after high school graduation and proudly served his country.

Larry and Velma settled in Plainville and became dedicated members
and volunteers in their community. Larry was the well-known and respected
owner and operator of Sno-White Bicycles & Power Equipment for 32 years,
where customers easily became friends.

He was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church, where he
coordinated parish retreats at the Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center,
St. Matthew Church, and was a life member and 4th degree Knight with
the Gerald T. Corrigan Council Knights of Columbus.
A member of the American Legion, The Rotary Club of Plainville,
and a past President of the French Businessmen's Association,
he loved meeting new people with a firm handshake or tight hug,
and always shared a joke or two.

He and Velma retired and spent many winters in Winter Haven, FL,
most recently residing at Village Gate in Farmington, CT.
He loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards,
dancing, and traveling. Larry was full of life and will forever be remembered
with a smile for his kind heart and selflessness, the eternal Peacemaker,
and the hard working inventor.

In addition to his wife, Velma, he leaves his son Mark and his wife Lorrie,
of Plainville, and his daughter Gail Duffy and her husband Chris,
of Farmington; his granddaughters who brought him much joy, Lynsie,
Haley, Stephanie, and Alexandra; his sister, Phyllis Belanger,
and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Pat), Jim (Sandy),

along with his many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
